Yes.My daughter is 12 is she too young for artificial nails?
My wife's mother started her when she was 10 or 11. Now my wife is obsessed with it. I think once every blue moon for a young girl as an outing with her mom is ok but not every time. Remember they require fills. Once they look bad they will want them again and again. Once you have said yes once you will have a hard time saying no and getting a positive response the next time.My daughter is 12 is she too young for artificial nails?
As a special occasion or as an all the time thing? My mother had a rule that I should wait to get fake nails until I was in high school, and even then I could not get anything ';extreme';. I am now 22 and I still think that it is something that you need to grow in to, although I do not find anything wrong with getting them done for a wedding, or a special dance, or something else like that.
Answer this question: why have artificial nails? What's the purpose? What's the point?
If you feel they have a legit purpose for a pre-teen, let her have them.
In my opinion, a 12 year old is too active to bother with something like this. Seems like a waste of time and money. And, in some circles, fake nails are considered low class. Why put your daughter into such a group, when it's not necessary?
it's all a matter of perspective, I think.
Personally, I'd say yes, though there's no real reprecutions to it.
My father would take a washcloth to me if I even wore makeup before I was 15.
Let her experiance her reality before going for fake aulternatives.
Yeah, I think that she is too young. I think that they'll look too grown up on her and the maintenance on them is high for a 12 year old. I think that regular manicures are fine for her at this age.
Yes...w/o a doubt.
Aw. Noo way! I got them when i was in 5th grade and I felt so grown up. 12 isn't young at all. Just make sure they're the decent length.
I honestly think that kids that age look like circus clowns when they insist on the plastic fingernails and makeup.
I am thirteen, and I see many of my friends (some of which are 12) wearing artificial nails. I do not believe that 12 is too young to wear them. I actually find them to look very nice. Some people are not born with nails that grow in a perfect shape, and artificial nails look pretty natural. It is very easy to apply artificial nails as well.
If your daughter decides to use artificial nails, I suggest that she gets artificial French tip nails. I find this style to look more sophisticated than the kind with sparkles and whatnot.
Hope this helps, and best of luck to you!
No!!.. She is a right age for that....! Let her get them done!!
yep, i think so. i think when she starts high school it's ok,(fourteen or fifteen) but at twelve it looks weird unless you are treating her for a special occasion, like a wedding.
My mother allowed me to get my nails done when I had a part time job to pay for them. I got a job at 14, and have gotten my nails done ever since. I think 12 might be a little young. I'm assuming your daughter is still in middle school. I would at least wait until she is in high school.
if its for a special occasion let her get them sone but short natural looking ones but they really tear up ur nails they get all scratched up and ugly so u should just let her get a french manicure there really pretty even if she has shorts nails.
no i had fake nails when i was 12 which was a few days ago ( now im 13) but if you do a good job and dont rip them off and NEVER get the really long ones( they r 2ce as likley 2 get ripped off her fingeers ) she should b OK!!!
Yes, she is too young. It will ruin her nail beds. I agree with Sarah, get a mani and pedi instead! :)
Not from a nail-place. no. i think she is much to young for that. But go to target and get some that just stick on! Lol they have fun colors and shapes on them!!!!
Also what my mom does is she buys the stick on little stcikers with ';diamonds'; on them!!! Everyone is always like ';where did you get your nails done!!'; and im always telling them my mom did it and they ask if she can do theirs too..and im in highscool! Lol.
Too young to go to an actual salon yes, but you could do them for her with the store bought. The salons actually file down the nail bed which is damaging to the nail. It causes ridges, and they look awful. Basically once you start having them done, you have to continue to maintain them- which can get pricey. Store bought may not last as long, but they are easy to remove, and they won't damage her little nails.
I am a Hairstylist at a salon .
She is definetly too young. There is no reason she needs artificial nails. For what? She is 12. Wait till she is about 15 or so. Not to mention that she will probley hate the way they feel so u will just be wasting your money. I know that if u came into our salon letting your daughter get nails put on We would talk crap about u in the back room. Not only that but our nail techs would not even do them.
In case u were wondering she is also to young for color, hilites, and waxing.
Sorry but People tell me Honesty is not my best quality. But I have strong issues on this . We have a girl that comes in ( I DO NOT DO IT ) that is 10 and gets tons of hilites .
Kids want to grow up so fast today, Mainly because they have friends who's parents are letting them. Remember back to when u were 12 and ask yourself what u want your daughter to do and not to do...
yes
Aren't there more important things for a 12 year old to be doing than practicing to be a bimbo?
She's not too young to get her nails done (filed and painted), but I wouldn't let her get artificial ones. My reasoning is more about the health aspect, though, and not the social one. Artificial nails are really damaging to a person's fingernails and the nail bed. Why allow her to ruin her nails? I know so many people who wish they never started getting artificial ones because it takes a few years sometimes for them to become normal again. I'd just take her to get a regular manicure and treat her to a pedicure too with the money you'll save from her not getting fake nails put on.
NO one should have artificial nails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The chemicals are destructive to your real nails and causes infections.
I think that's a little much for a 12 year old. Not to mention it's really bad for your nails. My mother always encouraged me to take care of my body, including my nails and hair, not cover it up. I've been getting professional manicures since I was 8, but I wouldn't teach my daughter to put chemicals and crap on her nails.
Yes, too young.
Maybe you could treat her to a mani and pedi instead.
i don't think so. many of my friends have them. its just a lot of work to keep up with. you have to get them filled in like every couple of weeks and there is a possibility of them cracking, breaking, or falling off. it just depends on how you fell about it. to me, they're just nails.
yepp. there is no need for it at that age. go take her to pick out some nail polish instead
Yea! Let her do It! You can be her best friend and mom btw! Dont think that u just have to be her mom to inforce ';The Law.';
I personally do think that 12 years old is too young for artificial nails. I would make my daughter wait until she was in high school before I would allow her to get artificial nails. Acrylics are very bad for you nails and I think they could greatly damage her nails at such a young age. They are also painful to take off which she will not enjoy. Instead of going to a salon and allowing her to get acrylic nails, perhaps you can compromise and buy her some press ons from your local CVS, Wal Mart, Target, Walgreens, or beauty supply store. This is something you can do together and I think it is a good compromise. Or you could take her to get an actual manicure, this is a fun salon experience and still healthy for her nails and age appropriate.
Yes. You dont want her to give off the wrong impression.
