Is artificial nails a good idea to stop nail biting?

So I've been biting my nails since I was 5 years old.





I'm 17 now and I still do it. It doesn't matter what mood I'm in. I do it all the time and can't stop!





My nails look really gross now. To the point where the nail area is getting red and my nails just look disgusting (I know, how bad is that!)





I have tried everything and think getting fake nails is my last option to stop this habit!!





Is this a good idea or not?

If I was a guy I probably wouldn't try fake nails, they look really fake I guess and are quite noticable that the are fake and they look extra shiney like girls nails etc. I think you should go to your local chemist or if you are in the US you call them drug stores. There is a bottle of solution you canget to put on your nails that have a hossible taste especially for nail biters. I have heard it can really help you. I used to bite my nails all the time though, and then a few years ago, I just told myself I was going to stop. You really need the will power to do it that way and it's quite hard, and it might take time to gest used of its buts if you really try and don't give up and try for long enough you can change that habbit just like I did. You can ask a nail technician for a coat of clear acrylic over your natural nails. It is hard and difficult to chew through, and you can file it down like a regular nail. But i doubt it will get rid of your compulsion to chew on your nails. I have acrylics right now and I still chew on them. And once you break one fake nail you have to get it fixed or break them all off so that they all look the same. It can also cost up to 30 dollars for fake nails, and you have to get them filled every week or so.
I would just paint them with clear nail polish. Usually, the taste is gross enough to keep your fingers out of your mouth. I don't really know if fake nails will help, since most I've seen are long and girly looking. Would you really want to walk around in those? If so, then go for it. Never know until you try.





I looked online and couldn't find short fake nails. Look at your local beauty or drug store. If not, maybe you'll be able to cut the long fake nails with nail clippers to make them shorter? Who knows.

I am biting my acrylic nails right now! So umm yeaa it might not work. But if you do get them done just tell the person u want them short. I know my friend got them like really short they looked pretty real.
um yeah they work wonders on my mom


now she just needs to find another nervous habit..oh wait she yells;)
