How do you remove artificial nails?

If you have grown tired of your artificial nails and want to remove them for a change, there鈥檚 a process to it. To ensure that there is no damage to your natural nails, one must undergo the correct method with patience and good care. You have an option of either getting it done professionally in a nail salon or try an at-home solution, which is not too difficult to do, but you must have sufficient time for it.

Also, you must know that there are different types of acrylic nails viz. EMA, MMA, fiberglass etc.

The process to remove all of these is the same except the time taken is different for each.

First, let鈥檚 take a look at the at-home process:

Don鈥檛 ever try clipping the old acrylic nails. It can be quite painful and can cause damage. The best way is to use acetone and cuticle oil.

Here鈥檚 how it works

路Apply Vaseline on fingers and cuticles

路Take a bowl of acetone to soak your hands in it for a while. It鈥?better to use warm acetone than that at room temperature since it works faster on the nails. You can warm it by putting the acetone bowl in another bowl of hot water. Do not ever heat the acetone in a microwave or on the gas stove. Acetone is a highly inflammable chemical and can be quite hazardous.

路Cover the acetone bowl with a clean towel to avoid evaporation

路Keep the fingers in acetone for at least 15 minutes if it is warm and for about 30 minutes if it is at room temperature. Remember, the longer you keep it, the better since the acrylic will wear off easily and faster.

路Once the water becomes gummy, (which is the acrylic melting off), you can remove the rest of it by wiping it off with the towel dipped in acetone. Do not try to remove the acrylic before it is ready to peel off else it will begin to harden again and you will have to undergo the entire process again.

An alternative method for acrylic nail removal is as under:

路Soak a cotton ball totally in acetone (preferably use real cotton and not synthetic)

路Apply lot of Vaseline or lotion on all fingers to condition them

路Put one such cotton ball on each finger and wrap it around slightly tight with tin foil

路Dip all fingers if paraffin thrice. This is a safe method for creating heat and there鈥檚 no problem if the acetone gets into the paraffin.

路Once the acrylic begins melting, apply some pressure and try removing the remaining acrylic and using a nail brush clean the acetone off. You can even wash you hands thoroughly to get rid of the acetone.

路Remove the rest of the acrylic using a tissue or cotton

So, that鈥檚 the at-home method for acrylic nail removal. Just ensure that you use acetone ingredients instead of non-acetone since the latter does not help in acrylic nail removal.

Also read the instructions properly if using a nail removal kit. Another way to quicken the process is to clip off the extra artificial nail.

Since acetone can dehydrate the skin, apply lots of Vaseline or lotion again to regain the moisture.

As mentioned earlier, you can even go to the nail salon but check on the rates before you decide to do that. The process might cost you anything between Indian rupees 250 to INR 500. The basic method they use is similar to the one used at home. The key is to soak the fingers a lot in acetone for best results. How do you remove artificial nails?

Get 100% pure acetone. They sell it at walgrees/cvs. You can get the bottle or the little container with a brush inside. That will take the acrylic and the tip off.
soak them in hot water with nail remover mixed with it for about 10mintues then begin slowly peeling. You should read the back of the glue you used to apply the artificial nails. Another way of removing them is by sweating this may take long but just dance around in your bedroom or something. lol.
soak in acetone
With pliers.
at beautiful nails
with artificial nail remover.. haha.

Try not to use acetone, or else your nails will not be the best they can be.. acetone is an acid, so be light on it's use, if you do use it.

There are nail removers out there that don't have acetone in them.

Not too bad for a straight guy eh?

haha maybe I should pay attention to my sis-in-law more often, maybe she can give me some pointers on how to deal with difficult women.
Nail Polsih remover....you can either soak them for a minute and either try 2 pull them off or if they are not yet losse soak again. If you got them done @ a nail salon them i would get them removed there.
u remove them with nail remover or rubbing achol
rip them off
soak them off with acetone the acetone will cause them to melt
soak in acitone....(type of strong polish remover)but you may not be able to buy this in your state w/out a license...go to the nail shop and they will do it for you
dip it in luke warm soapy water for 10min. %26amp; try removing with a greasy cream
chew em off, lol thats what my mother does
try your local drug store,,, ask them to recommend the best solution... What we recommend here (eg.acitone, nail polish remover) may not work on your brand of artificial nails.
acetone, but it takes forever, so just file them off
soak your fingers in some lemon juice or some vinegar, to loosen them up, and then pry them off, or get someone to pry them off for you.
a couple of ways: some more painless than painful

soak your nails in asenton. real nail polish remover has this, and it will bruned the aryclic off. it is time consuming but works.

get a nail clipper, and clip them off. the only problwm with this, is that if your nails underneath are long, you might clipped your own nails too, and that can be painful.

take the nail to the mouth. i know it sounds barbaric, but i have seen it done. starts twisting the nail around your eyes and gently chanked the nail off.

also if you really dont want to do all that, wait about two weeks. the space between the real nail and the fake nail, if the gap is big enough you will be able to sapped the nail off.

good luck.
ACETONE AND VERY HOT WATER SOAK...IF THEY ARE JEL TYPE THEY MELT INTO JELLY....IFACRYLIC ITS SOMETIMES TOUGHER...IF YOU CANT GET THEM OFF...GO TO NAIL PARLOR THEY WILL DO THE SAME ONLY THE STUFF IS STRONGER...PROBABLY 12.00 AND A TIP. DONT PRY THEM THEY WILL MAKE YOUR NATURAL NAILS SO DAMAGED FOR 3 MONTHS UNTIL GROWN OUT.
There are obviously several fingernail polish removers on the market, but if you find one that says it contains pure Acetone - it will literally dissolve the nail if you allow them to soak in the Acetone for a while. If you allow them to soak for a relatively short while, you can just pop them off with your finger nails if you catch it in the right place. From my own experience, the Acetone works great!
SOAK HOT WATER!!!!!!!!!! DON'T FORCE THEM OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WILL HURT!!!!!!!!

P.S: If you need a girl to talk to E-mail me!!!!
you need acitone!! you can get it from your local beauty shop!! get a decent bowl fill it so it is over all your nails! leave your hands in at least half an hour then your nails should soften then use a file to file of the nails! this always works remember they dont just fall off you have to file!! If it doesnt work then your doing something wrong
You wait until they get white underneath and then pull them off.
I wait until their is lifting and I clip them and use an emory board to thin out the acrylic and they come off easily. Sometimes some are more painful than others. Definently not my favorite thing to do...but if they do it in the salon they can really hurt you.
Nail polish remover .I makes them soft and it disolve the glue.

.
The way I like to remove my fake nails is to go to the salon I get them done at and have them ';soak them off'; which is in acetone...Since soaking can take 30 minutes or so.. I always schedule a pedicure...So I sit and get a pedicure while my nails soak off! Helps pass the time!
soak the artificial nails in acetone
what type of bonding agent was applied to adhere them on with?

if superglue , then you'd be looking for that type of agent to melt down super glue adhesives, go to your nearest dollar store look up the type edhesive used to glue them on with and find a solvent also sold there to help unglue the nails, some adhesives will release with alcohol, others types need special adhesives relaxers, that carry certain bi-products in them. then you have to call whom ever put them on to find out type of adhesive used.
with an artificial hammer...I'm sorry, my wife said she'd hit me for you.
Soak your nails in acetone and use the edge of a credit card or something sturdy and thin to slip under the nail. Make sure they've grown out a bit before you do it though, otherwise it will be painful.
